Half of the 1200 people at the National Banjo Pickers’ Convention at Te Rapa were outside the big marquee when a wind gust snapped guy ropes and the big top began to collapse. ■ . Those inside scrambled to safety, unhurt. The $BOO dollar tent was then lowered to the ground and the convention moved to a public hall.
