James Arthur Likely Winner Tomorrow
Sound Great Easter Handicap runs by James Arthur and Manana have whetted interest in their next meeting, which will be in the Templeton Handicap, the second leg of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s T.A.B. double tomorrow. James Arthur was second and Manana a fast-finishing fourth in yesterday’s $4OOO seven-furlong race. The Templeton Handicap distance is one mile. At that distance the Warstep Stakes winner. Winning Words, could also be a danger. The $2OOO Dominion Handicap, first leg of tomorrow’s T.A.B. double, has attracted only eight acceptors, but the race looks fairly open. Further drying in the track would bring Sir Limond, an easy winner at Rangiora last time out, into strong favour. Sabel’s switch from sprinting back to a middle distance could also have a bearing on the result. There will be an on-course double on the Kildare Handicap and Christchurch Handicap. Selections: Noon.—Kildare Handicap: Sandbank, Pee Wee, Sandy. 12.35 p.m.—Tasman Handicap: Jay Ribbon, if scr Beau Leigh, My Greatest, Displease. 1.15 p.m. Christchurch Handicap: Flower Girl, Bigoted, Running Waters. 1.50 p.m.—Autumn Nursery Handicap: Volant*, Every Post, Allspice. 2.25 p.m.—Dominion Handicap: Sir Limond, Sabell, Royal Blue. 3.S p.m.—Wigram Handicap: Pretentious, Golden Promise, Centaur. 3.45 p.m.—Templeton Handicap: James Arthur, Manana, Winning Words. 4.20 p.m.—Shirley Handicap: Jay Ribbon, if scr Fair Behaviour, Julmark, Sun Bank.
