General Command, Unpainted Win

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY. The New Zealand-bred General Command, ridden by G. Moore, won the $40,000 Sydney Cup at Randwick yesterday. Prominence, ridden by W. A. Smith, was second, with Padtheway, ridden by M. Schumacher, third. General Command, Sydney’s top stayer, was outright favourite for the two-mile race. The imported Irish stayer, Khalekan, was a late scratching from the cup. Khalekan, one of the early fancies for the race, was found to be lame yesterday morning. General Command has now won 11 races and more than $90,000 in stakes. On April 25 last year Genera) Command won his first race—a maiden event at Randwick.
