OFF-COURSE BETTING UP
All against Easter holiday trends, the Canterbury Jockey Club's off-course turnover showed an increase on the first day of its autumn meeting at Riccarton yesterday. Off-course investments totalled $173,310.50 and were $800.50 up on last year. On-course betting amounted to 8187,233, a decrease of $19,912. The racing was held in fine, cool weather on a slightly easy track.
