Model Contest Winner
Miss Lyn Riddell, of Wellington (above), won the export model competition held in conjunction with the Wool Alive exhibition at the New Zealand Easter Show in Auckland. Placing a crown of wool on Miss Riddell's head is Mr Gordon Dryden, marketing manager of U.E.B. Textiles, Ltd,
who announced the decision Of the judges at the show. As part of her prize Lyn Riddell will fly by Air New Zealand to the west coast of the United States for a 20-day working holiday. She will be New Zealand's ambassadress for wool, promoting wool fashions, carpets, rugs, yarns, and other wool products for New Zealand manufacturers. Miss RlddelL who grew up in Waianakarua, south of Oamaru, was one of four finalists selected at the beginning of March from more than
100 entries from girls all over New Zealand. All four girls—the others were Sandra Clayworth, of Auckland, Jocelyn Hare, of Wellington, and Claire Hamilton, of Dunedin were plunged into a hectic round of activity immediately after their selection. They toured Auckland wool processing plants and visited a wool store, studied fashion modelling and deportment, and at the end of March began three weeks of modelling in the Wool Alive fashion parades at the Easter Show.
