RAIN IN ALPS
Mountaineers Change Plans (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. About 20 mountaineers participating in Alpine Instruction, Ltd's, course in the Mount Cook area may have been thwarted by today’s wet and cloudy weather in their efforts to further their training on the Grand Plateau. The Mount Cook National Park Board’s chief ranger (Mr D- F. Bell) said this evening that the group did not appear to be at the Ball Hut, at which it was based, and that it might have abandoned its original intention. He said the men may have gone to the De la Beche Hut, In the Tasman Valley. The course will end tomorrow. |
