REFUND OF BETS
Four Locked I In Stalls (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Grand Coeur. The rest of the field started without incident and completed the course. Payment of dividends was delayed pending the judicial com mittee’s decision from an in RUiry. Evidence was heard from the starter. Mr N. C. Trillo, and the steward at the start. Mr Tilson.
The committee found that Mr Trillo was unable to declare a false start because the siren he would have used did not func tion.
The committee gave its decision on the matter in three parts: It decided not to declare the race void. Accordingly divl dends were paid on the judge’s piacings: it decided that all bets on the four horses left behind should be refunded: and it im posed the maximum penalty of 910 on the starter, finding thai he had not tested the siren be fore the race.
