Contractors Clear Logs
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, April 14. Contractors ran a shuttle service between the Mataura Island and Gorge Road bridges—about 15 miles apart —dragging logs and debris from the piles yesterday and today. At the Gorge Road Bridge debris built up about 25 yards from the piles on Saturday. The force of water against the Mataura Island bridge today caused a permanent bow along its length.
