Lyttelton Court
There wee only one objection to the valuation roll at a sitting of the Lyttelton AMXllment Court held l*6t week. The objection was made by a ship's surveyor for the Marine Department, Donald Edward McKelvie of Lyttelton. Mr McKelvie eaid that a 32.» per cent increase In bls property rating value during the last three years was an unreasonable one. He said that no material changes had taken place in his property during that time. Mr J. G. Legfat represented the Lyttelton Borough Council. The objection wee dismissed by Mr E. S. J. Traffic OHencee In the following cases In the Lyttelten Magistrate's Court convictions were entered and sentences Imposed as follows: Exceeding heavy traffic licence: Rhind's Transport, Ltd, S 3 (exceeding axis weight, »10); Mitchell Brothers. Ltd, 610 (exceeding axle weight, S 10). Failing to stop: Ronald Edward Gunn, SS; Ronald Fields, $5. Exceeding 30 miles an hour: Raymond William Goodmanson. $25. NO warrant of dtnest: Joseph Lloyd, 15. For failing to give way. Charles Turner was (Inert S2O and disqualified from driving for three months. Liquor Offences Paul Robert Tozer, a 19-year-old apprentice shipwright who was Charged with being a minor in a bar, was fined SlO. For supplyng false information about his age, he was fined a further 620. Six youths who pleaded guilty to drinking liquor in a public place, namely Corsair Bay, were each fined Sl5. According to the police, a dozen empty beer bottles were found at the scene and the youths said that they had intended to drink the beer and have a swim. They were Barry Pntllip Ornsby, aged 18; Kerry Gallagher, aged 17: Kevin Gallagher, aged 17; Michael Gallagher, aged 20: Raymond Gray, aged IS; and Robert Gray, aged 17. •
