HOVERCRAFT EXPEDITION
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) MANAUS (Brazil), April 14 A British hovercraft expedition has left the Amazon port city of Manaus on an unprecedented 2000-mile trip up the Rio Negro River and then down the Orinoco Rivers in Venezuela. The 10-ton craft, with 18 Britons and Brazilians aboard, began its month-long adventure 24 hours behind schedule. The expedition hopes to test this new form of transport in a difficult region, and carry out geographical and physical research in the Casiquiari Canal area of Venezuela.
