TEMPORARY JUDGE

Mr C. M. Roper Appointed

Mr C. M. Roper, Crown Prosecutor in Christchurch, has been appointed a temporary judge of the Supreme Court, the Attorney-General (Mr Hanan) announced on Thursday. Mr Roper, who will be sworn in after Easter, will take up his duties on April 29.

Born at Christchurch in 1921. Mr Roper was educated

at Christchurch West District High School and Canterbury and Victoria Universities, graduating LL.B after the war.

In 1961. Mr Roper was appointed Crown Solicitor at Christchurch, succeeding his senior partner Mr P. T Mahon, who had resigned to practice as a barrister During the war, Mr Roper was an officer wi’h the Rnva’ Few Zealand Artillery in the Pacific, Italy and Japan.
