VACANCIES—MALES Government Of Fiji Department Of Lands, Mines And Surveys VACANCY FOR STAFF SURVEYOR APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED for appointment on contract to the post of Staff Surveyor in the Lands, Mines and Surveys Department, Fiji. QUALIFICATIONS: A certificate of competency or licence to practice as a land surveyor in Australia or New Zealand or equivalent qualification, plus five years practical experience after qualification. DUTIES: Supervision and training of junior survey staff, cadastral and trigonometrical surveys and some photogrammetric ground control work. Prospects of subsequent promotion to District Surveyor at a salary of £lB5l in the following salary scale. District Surveyors are in charge of a District Survey Office and administer the control and development of Crown Land in their district. SALARY: Commencing salary in the scale £F1092 x 48 —1236 x 57—1350 x 57—1464 x 63—1653 x 66—2181 in accordance with qualification and experience. ALLOWANCES: A non-taxable allowance will also be paid into an officer's bank account outside the Colony of Fiji. At present this ranges from £StgsoB- - TOUR OF DUTY: 2, 2} or 3 years. LEAVE: Leave on full salary is allowed on contract completion, and in addition you are also eligible for local leave during the tour. QUARTERS: For a moderate rental, quarters, including heavy furniture, will be provided for married officers. Single officers may be offered accommodation in Government Quarters or alternatively, will be eligible for a subsidy towards the cost of renting a house or flat. EDUCATION: Education to University Entrance level is available in Suva. The newly formed University of the South Pacific is also based in Suva.
