Study Could Take Year (N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) LONDON, April 11. A study of the feasibility of a joint steelmaking plant could take Guest Keen and Nettlefolds, Ltd, and the Broken Hill Proprietary, Ltd, about a year.
The chairman of G.K.N. (Mr R. Brookes) told a press conference: “We won’t rush our fences. We can’t afford to be wrong on a thing like this.” The feasibility study was announced about a month ago. Present Arrangement At present, John Lysaght (Australia), Ltd. a member company of the G.K.N. group, buys its steel from B.H.P. “We consider that we must underpin our operations sooner or later with a suitable steelmaking plant." Mr Brookes said.
