The champion New Zealand pacer, Cardigan Bay, harness racing's leading money winner, will compete in the SUSSO,OOO International Pace at Yonkers Raceway on April 25. the Associated Press reported.
Golden Blend, of Canada, has also accepted an invitation to compete in the mile and a half race, the first of the Yonkers series for outstanding pacers.
The other races are the 1U550.000 Good Time Pace on May 2. and the SUSSO,OOO National Championship Race on May 9. Cardigan Bay. a durable 12-year-old. and Golden Blend, a five-year-old stallion, are the second and third entries in the International Pace. First Lee. of Australia, was named several weeks ago.
Cardigan Bay. which now races for Stanley Dancer and Irving Berkemeyer. of New Jersey, has career earnings of $U5947,571. If he wins the International, Good Time and National Championship events, as he did in 1966, he will become the first standard-bred ever to win SUSIm.
