TROTTING Friendly Forbes Methven Pick

Friendly Forbes, a half-brother to Friendly Tom, should gain his first win in the Two-year-old Stakes at Methven tomorrow. He showed improvement when at his second race start he finished a good third to Garcon Roux and Ginger Wine in the Two-year-old Stakes at Addington Raceway on March 9.

Friendly Forbes will be bracketed with Balmoral, which finished well back in her race at Rangiora last week. This sister to Royal Walk looks a likely improver. Ginger Wine, a shade disappointing at yesterday’s trials, has re-entered the field as a result of scratchings. His placing at Addington was a sound one and he could race prominently in this field. Garcon Roux will be set a difficult task from 24 yards. It is hard to see him winning, but he should at least be a reasonable place chance after his decisive win at Addington Raceway a fortnight ago.

The T.A.B. double will be run on the J. McCloy Memorial Handicap and the Springburn Handicap. There will be an on-course concession double run on the Lyndhurst Handicap and the First Spaxton Handicap.
