Jigger Derailed

(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, March 20. A railway Jigger was derailed when it hit a stick lying across the main trunk line, a mile south of Blenheim, yesterday, throwing the driver on to the track. A railway ganger, Richard James Tomlinson, of 5 Churchill Street, Blenheim, managed to get the Jigger back on the track and continue to the railway yards. He was then taken to Wairau Hospital, where he was treated for a lacerated forehead and a seriously

bruised right shoulder. He will be off work for about a month. Mr Tomlinson said this morning that the sun was shining directly down the track, and that he did not see the stick until he was nearly upon it He said he was thrown about 10 feet by the impact. A train was due to leave Blenheim about the time of the accident and he wasted no time in getting the light jigger back on to the line and continuing to the yards. Police are investigating.
