Poultry Raffles
The police will be asked to investigate the source of supply of fowls raffled in hotels as the result of a remit passed at the annual conference of New Zealand Registered Poultryfarmers in Christchurch yesterday. Mr A. J. Clark, of the Auckland branch, who moved the remit, said there were many raffles for
dressed poultry every day in Auckland hotels. “We feel that in many cases these birds have been purchased under questionable circumstances,” he said. “We do not wish to stifle this outlet for dressed poultry, but it is in our own interests to make sure the birds have been honestly obtained.”
