After a last-start sixth at Trentham on the second day the big chestnut should appreciate the relief in class here. At his previous start he ran third in the Thompson Handicap at Trentham.

Tipperary Tom will find favour again, although his run of seconds seems never ending. He has been beaten in close finishes in his last four starts.

Bljali was by no means disgraced at New Plymouth. Seven furlongs suits her and she has run good races at Hawera. Bostock a winner at New Plymouth last week will come in for support and Clarry could also be prominent. Two starts back the Matamata-trained galloper beat Bywon and Springlo in a sprint at Avondale.
