Another Warm Day In Province
Canterbury basked In warm temperatures again yesterday. A maximum of 90 degrees was recorded at several places and In Christchurch 84 degrees was recorded between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. So far this month Christchurch has had two temperatures exceeding 90 degrees and four above 80 degrees. They were, March 3, 92 degrees; March 4, 91; March 5, 82; March 11, 84; March 14, 82; and yesterday, 84. At Ashburton the temperature has been in the nineties on five days. The maximum yesterday was 88 degrees, the sixth hottest day of the summer.
The temperature remained in the eighties in Christchurch for four hours.
The day’s maximum of 84 degrees was recorded at the Meteorological Office at Christchurch Airport. The 3 p.m. reading in the Botanic Gardens was 80 degrees. Other temperatures included:—
North Canterbury.—Cheviot 85, Balmoral 86, Rangiora 90, and Kaiapoi 85.
Mid and South Canterbury. —Pleasant Point, Temuka and Waimate 90; Timaru Airport 88, Geraldine, Timaru, and the Mount John Observatory, 86; Fairlie 85.9, Lake Coleridge 82, Cave. Clandeboye and Glenavy 80.
