FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —An almost stationary anticyclone in the central Tasman Sea extends over most of New Zealand; a weak cold front is advancing across the south-west Tasman towards southern New Zealand. Forecast:
Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast.—Moderate north-easterlies about the coast but fresh to strong north-westerlies in inland Canterbury; fine and warm: a change to cooler southerlies may develop about the Canterbury coast later in the day bringing a temporary increase in cloud. Central Marlborough and Nelson.—Winds light and variable; fine and warm. Buller and Westland.—Cloud increasing; some drizzle likely, especially in the south; mild.
