Improved Numbers CN.Z. Prere Association! f WELLINGTON, March 17. The Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) reported today that the number of trainees in the two secondary teachers' colleges had risen from 950 in 1967 to 1230 this year. He described this increase as “pleasing,” and said that of the 280 extra trainees this year, 161 were graduates, bringing the total number of graduates available for appointments to teaching positions in secondary schools next year to 562, compared with 401 last year. In the division for trainees with incomplete degrees, I there were 322 trainees this 'year, an increase of 90. all of whom would be available for i teaching positions within the ' next three years.
