FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A moist north-westerly airstream flows over New Zealand. A frontal zone lies to the north of the North Island.
Forecast: Buller and Westland. —Moderate northerlies; cloudy; mild and humid with showers at times. Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.—Mainly moderate winds, directions variable inland, but moderate north-easterlies on the coast and plains; scattered showers persisting in the Alps; drizzle areas elsewhere; clearing; mild to warm. Nelson.—Light to moderate northerly winds; changeable and warm with scattered showers, mainly about the ranges.
Marlborough, except the Kaikoura Coast.— North-westerlies becoming fresh to strong in exposed places near Cook Strait; cloudy at first with a few light showers, but becoming mainly fine during the day; mild.
Outlook.—Showers in the west, but mainly fair east of the main ranges. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
