First Darts Tourney

The Bret workingmen's clubs national darts competition held at Hornby, was won by G. Logan and E. Greene, of the New Brighton W.M.C. They beat R Clayton and R. McGarvey (Napier Cosmopolitan Club). The singles was also won by the New Brighton player. Logan. who beat D. Gear (Petone). One possible was scored, by the Otorohanga singles player, T. Mallett. After the competitions. 37 elubs throughout the country formed the New Zealand Workingmens’ Clubs Darts Association. Officers elected were: President, Mr F. Quemard (Spreydon-Hoon Hay); vice president, Mr A. A. Franklin (Christchurch; secretary. Mr J. Riddell (Spreydon-Hoon Hay); area delegates, Messrs K. Mills (Onehunga), P. Alcock (Hamilton), D. Burrows (Napier), w. McKendrlck (Castlecliff), D. Young (Wellington), K. Roberts (Riccarton), N, Hibbs (Black ball). J. Mercer (Dunedin).

Onehunga will be the host elub for the 1989 tournament, which will be held early in March.
