NEW BALL FOR GOLF
One Piece, Tougher
(N.Z. P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK.
A solid, one-piece golf ball, the first change in design since 1899, when the threepiece ball now in use appeared, is being produced in America. Dr Calfin Wolf, president of the Princeton Chemical Research Company, which invented and developed the new ball, said he believed it will win 10 per cent of the total sales market this year. “The new ball is made of a material that is virtually indestructible,” Dr Wolf said. “It is guaranteed playable for at least 180 holes and chances are that golfers will lose it before it wears out.” Dr Wolf said that one-piece construction gave the ball a perfect centre.
