Influenced by the London trend, gold stocks were easier. Lake View and Star lost 35c to 450 c, and Great Boulder took off 50c to 600 c. Peko Wallsend fell 10c to 990 c. The market generally was a shade weaker. Mount Isa lost 6c to 530 c: C.R.A. lost 10c to 1070 c; B.H.P. took off 25c to 1765 c; C.S.R. shed 11c to 442 c.

MELBOURNE Industrials were irregular, with rises slightly in excess of falls. B.H.P. dropped 5c to 1770 c. Hamersley, with a rise of 28c to 850 c, was the outstanding gain in base metals, while most other issues fell. Hampton down 60c to 910 c.
