Exchange Control
Sir, —What an extraordinary reply from the deputy secretary of the Reserve Bank to my inquiry on this subject! It would appear that he is no more able than I am properly to interpret the regulations, and his suggestion that I might have better luck with the Christchurch branch would, as a masterpiece of buck-passing, be hilariously funny in the hands of Messrs Gilbert and Sullivan, but in real life it is definitely disturbing. However, she’ll be right! Incidentally, I cannot accept that my writing is bad enough to justify the reading of “potential” as political.”— Yours, etc., A POTENTIAL CRIMINAL. March 11, 1968.
