BRIDGE KITS
Use In N. Vietnam
Two London architects— Miss Renate Prince, formerly of Christchurch, and Mr Richard Hobin, formerly of Auckland—are designing cheap industrialised bridge-building kits and pontoons for use in North Vietnam.
They hope to raise funds for the kits from architects.
“The Times,” London, says the two architects were frustrated by the impotence of protesting against American involvement in Vietnam and by “the general failure to make the connection between private and professional morality." They therefore decided to do something positive for North Vietnam. Miss Prince and Mr Hobin have also been trying to persuade British architects to boycott plastic building products of Dow Chemicals because the firm makes napalm for use in Vietnam, “The Times” says. Miss Prince was educated in Christchurch and went overseas about 17 years ago. She qualified in Germany and then began practice in London.
