Dutch Are Shocked

The Second (lower) Chamber of the Dutch Parliament last night accepted a motion saying it was shocked by the suffering of the Vietnamese people and feared escalation of the Vietnam war. The motion called for an unconditional end to the bombing of North Vietnam. The Chamber asked the Dutch Cabinet to urge all parties involved to stop hostilities immediately, to be followed by negotiations on the departure of all foreign troops and the selfdetermination of Sonth Vietnam according to the Geneva Conference. The Foreign Minister, Dr Joseph Luns, said he was willing to contact his partners in Benelux and the West European Union in order to find a basis that could start negotiations. “I have taken steps with the highest authorities in Washington and I have already asked them to stop the bombing,” the Minister said. f.
