INVITATION MILE.—The Australian distance runner, R. W. Clarke, in the front straight during the invitation mile at Rugby Park last Saturday. At his shoulder is the Timaru athlete, R. Tayler, who was third, and behind him is J. Power, also of Timaru, who came through for a meritorious second place. Clarke’s winning time was 4min 7.7 sec.
