Optimism On Hospital

(N.Z. Press Association)

NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 6. The Inglewood Action Group, formed after the closure of the town’s maternity hospital on August 14 because of Taranaki Hospital Board economies, now has high hopes that the hospital will be reopened. Mr P. Julian, chairman of the group, and Mr K. J. Little, Inglewood County Clerk, met the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) in Wellington yesterday.

“The Minister reacted favourably to the submissions we made for reopening the hospital,” said Mr Julian today. “He said he would write to the Taranaki Hospital Board before its next meeting, outlining his views.”
