1968 C.O.R.S.O. Launched

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 6. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said today that C.0.R.5.0.’s projects for 1968 would as far as possible be selected on the basis of spending as much as possible in New Zealand in the purchase of New Zealand goods for shipping overseas. This would mean the buying of New Zealand milk biscuits, milk powder and New Zealand farm machinery for underdeveloped countries, he said. Mr Holyoake was speaking at a luncheon in Wellington launching the joint 1968 C.0.R.5.0. and Freedom from Hunger Campaign. This year the campaign has taken on a scheme under which the 1300-mile highway from North Cape to the Bluff

has been designated the “hunger trail.” Mr Holyoake said: “Each donation given will help close the gap not just between North Cape and the Bluff, but also the gap between the haves and the have-nots. “One cent for each inch of the hunger trail will yield a total of $823,680 —this year’s target.”

Mr Holyoake said it was unfortunate that this year’s appeal was again set against a difficult economic background. But C.0.R.5.0. regarded this as a challenge and he was certain this year’s “imaginative” campaign would be an outstanding success.
