RIPPING TASK
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Who Is best equipped physically to tear up a telephone directory—on All Black or a heavy-weight weight-lifter? In a light-hearted trial of strength yesterday, the All Black flanker. W. J. Nathan, accepted a challenge from the Commonwealth Games gold medallist weight-lifter, D. C. Oliver—and was soundly out-ripped. They confronted each other at a party organised by the Murray Halberg Trust for Crippled Children.
Oliver split an Auckland telephone directory .with effortless ease, while Nathan, given a second directory, found the task almost beyond his ability.
