PURGE IN GREECE
Air Force Chiefs Go (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ATHENS, Feb. 6. Twenty-one senior Greek Royal Air Force officers, ineluding the Chief of Air Staff, have been dismissed or retired from active service by the Government junta for their alleged involvement in King Constantine's unsuccessful counter-coup last December. The dismissals include those of an air-marshal, two air vicemarshals, three group captains, a brigadier, and a wing commander.
Thirteen other officers, ranking from wing commander to squadron leader, have been placed on the retirement list Among the officers dishonorably discharged, are the former Chief of Air Staff (Air Marshal G. Antonakos), who is said to have played an organising role in the countercoup and later to have fled to Rome with the young King.
Chilean Devaluation.—The Government - controlled El Banco Central yesterday ordered the third minor devaluation of Chile’s currency since the beginning of this year. The bank raised the buyer’s rate from 6.97 to 7.11 escudos to the dollar and the bankers' future rate from 6 to 6.11 escudos to the dollar.—Santiago, Feb. 6.
