The first United States FlO2 delta-winged aircraft to be lost in the Vietnam war was shot down on Saturday by a Communist MiG2l southwest of Hanoi, the Unjted States Military Command has announced. The loss of the FlO2 raised to 796 the number of American planes brought down over North Vietnam since the air war began three years ago. This was the thirty-ninth American plane shot down by enemy MiGs in air-to-air combat. The others were accounted for by missiles and conventional anti-aircraft fire.
United States pilots claim 105 MiGs shot down in aerial combat over North Vietnam.
