FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone centred in the Tasman Sea extends over most of New Zealand; a strong westerly airstream flows to the south. Forecast:

Canterbury and Marlborough.—Winds mainly moderate but occasionally fresh north-easterlies on the coast and plains, but north-westerlies elsewhere; some areas of low cloud night and morning but weather mainly fine and mild to warm inland.

Nelson.—light or moderate variable winds; daytime sea breezes in coastal areas; some areas of low cloud during the morning but mainly fine and warm.

Buller and Westland.—Light or moderate variable winds; morning cloud and drizzle patches, otherwise partly cloudy and mild/ Outlook.—Mainly fine east of the ranges.
