Wellington Woman Joins Safari

Mrs G. J. Eller, of Wellington, has left London on the first leg of a 17-day wild-life safari to East Africa which has been organised for its readers by the international wildlife magazine, “Animals”.
The party, which is led by Mr G. R. Gread, curator of animals at the Bristol Zoo, will go first to Murchison Falls National Park, which contains one of the largest concentrations of game in the world and where at certain seasons herds of more than 1000 elephant can be seen. It will also go by launch to the base of Murchison Falls. In Nairobi it will visit Lake Naivasha, which is famous for its waterfowl and the MasaiMara Reserve. In Tanzania, the vast game reserve of Serengeti will afford it an opportunity of seeing one of the greatest concentrations of'plains game in the world, together with leopards and cheetahs. The party will then travel to the Ngorongoro crater—the greatest in the world—the floor of which is 12 miles across. Members will descend to
i the crater floor and spend the f day watching the animals there. The Masai herdsmen I ’ live in the crater and their 1 villages are of particular in-, 1 terest. After returning to Kenya, 1 the party will visit the Am- ‘ boseli National Reserve, 1 which covers 2000 square, miles, and will catch its first ' sight of Mount Kilimanjaro. After a drive north over ; the wide Athi Plains to Nairobi the party will spend a day shopping there or visiting the Nairobi Game Park before leaving for London on ; February 4.'
