“QUEEN OF HARDWARE.”—Mrs Kathleen Lillystone receiving her crown from "Miss Great Britain” (Miss Jennifer Gurley) in London. Mrs Lillystone’s prize was an 18-day cruise and a wardrobe of clothes. The crown is made from 346 brass screws, the heads of 55 brass and aluminium-alloy screws, and six chromium-plated dome tops attached to an aluminium ring. Her cloak, of aluminium foil, is worn over a dress made from 403 gold mesh pot-scrubbers valued at lid each. The scrubbers were opened out flat and glued on to a plain cotton dress.
