Win For Palmer
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright I PALM SPRINGS (California). A. Palmer won the SUSIOO,OOO Bob Hope desert golf classic when he beat D. Beman on the second hole of a “sudden-death” play-off. H. Henning (South Africa) was third with 349—0n1y one stroke behind Palmer and Beman after 90 holes.
Beman, in his first year as a professional, narrowly failed to take his first major title. At the fifteenth hole, where the play-off began, the two leaders shared a par four, but on the next hole Palmer’s second shot could not be matched by Beman. W. Caspar and R. Weiskopf, both of the United States, shared fourth place with 350.
