CABINET STUDY
Economic Review
(N.Z, Press Association)
WELLINGTON, February 5.
The Cabinet is to hold a special two-day meeting on February 26 and 27 to consider the economic situation; the Government proposes to release an economic review soon afterwards.
“We shall have at least a whole day in which to study the whole economic situation,” said the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) today. Mr Holyoake confirmed that Ministers, including the Minister of Finance (Mr Mui* doon) and Government departments were preparing reports on the economic situation for the meeting. Asked whether an early assembling of Parliament was likely this year, Mr Holyoake said:
“I have not given any thought to calling Parliament together very early and it would be from such a study that my thinking on this would be influenced. “By this time (late February) we will have a full ap predation of the effects of devaluation,” he said.
