Vegetable And Fruit Prices
Little interest was shown in yesterday’s vegtable market. Few lines were forwarded for sale and all types of vegetables were hard to sell. Strawberries and raspberries were in short supply, prices being silmiar to those last week. Nelson peppers were in plentiful supply and sold well. A line of field mushrooms also sold weU. Other fruit and vegetable prices supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Association were:— Marrows.—4oc to 00c a case. Silver Beet.—2oc to 30c a ease. Beetroot.—3oc to 50c a case. Pumpkins.—To 37.30 a sack. Cabbages.—ooc to 31.10. Carrots.—To 33.35 a case. Cauliflowers.—6oc to 31.10 a case. Onions.—To 32 a sugar bag. - Parsnips.—To 70c a box. Swedes.—To 31.30 a sugar bag. White Turnips.—To Me a box. Potatoes.—3l.so to 31.80 a case. Kumeras.—To 36.50 a case Spring Onions.—To 50c a dozen bunches. Radishes.—To 30c a dozen bunches. Lettuces.—4oc to 80c a sack. Celery.—To 50c a dozen heads. French, Butter, Stringless and Runner Beans.—To 40c a box. Cucumbers.—To 40c a case. Sweet Corn.—To 80c a tray. Buttercup Pumpkins.—To 32.50 a case. Tomatoes.—To 22c a pound. Peaches.—Tray to 31.20. Cooking Plums.—Boe to 31.20 a case. Dessert Plums.—32 to 33. M a case.
