Grandfather’s Flight Record

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) CHICAGO, February 4. The veteran flyer. Max Conrad, today set a new world distance record for light planes over a closed circuit. A National Aeronautics Association spokesman said the 64-year-old “flying grandfather” had flown 2898 miles when his plane skimmed across Chicago airport on the twenty-third lap of a closed circuit between Chicago and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The old record for light planes was 2773.09 miles, set in 1961 by Octavian Bacanu, of Rumania.
