Travel Cuts Criticised

In a letter to President Johnson, the Pacific Area Travel Association suggests that a better approach to the United States imbalance of payments than restrictions on the overseas travel of United States citizens, would be a more aggressive attitude in promoting United States attractions to the potential visitor overseas. “The principal reason for the letter is a very deep conviction that no-one should tamper with the freedom of travel,” said the executive director of the association (Mr F. M. Blake). “Freedom to travel abroad should be the right of every citizen of even' country of the world.” In the letter the association says restrictions on travel would have bad effects on its wide membership, including 31 countries and 49 air and steamship lines.
