Many Lines Of Merchandise
Henry Berry, Ltd, Is a wholesale firm which deals in many lines of merchandise, but mostly supplies butchers, bakers and pastrycooks. The firm had a $5.2m turnover in New Zealand last year. There is a staff of 24 at the Christchurch branch of the firm, which covers all of Canterbury from Kaikoura to Timaru and all of the West Coast. There are more than 200 employed in New Zealand by the firm. The firm deals In many lines including stainless steel ware for hotels and eating establishments, machinery and equipment for butchers, bakers, pastrycooks and other food merchants, seasonings and spices, tea, coffee, and other food lines as well as
scales and vending machines; the firm is one of the leading salt merchants in Australasia and at one time was the leading salt merchant in New Zealand. Mr F. H. Bass was the first chairman of the New Zealand company's board and although he still holds his seat on the board, he retired as chairman several years ago.
Mr B. R. Law is the present chairman. The managing director of the firm is Mr A. G. Brown, who has held that position since the New Zealand subsidiary’s inception.
