The Pacific Unit
The Pacific Unit which has more than 300 members, has its headquarters in Christchurch and now covers six countries: Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Fiji, Borneo and New Zealand.
The flowers-by-wfre idea was first organised in New Zealand In 1936 when F.T.D.A. New Zealand Unit was formed. At first the unit worked under the control of the F.T.D.A, Detroit, and all cleaning was done by actual settlements between individual florists.
After th* war when International Inter-flora was created the new body decided to realign New Zealand and a number of other countries under British control.
During last year 189,000 orders were cleared in New Zealand alone to a value of $482,000, which indicates that the practise of sending flowers-by-wire is very popular here too.
The New Zealand member* like their brothers throughout the world pride themselves on the service they provide and are always pleased to hear from members of the public who have suggestions to make regarding improving the service.
