Accidental Discharge
A young boy was fatally injured when he was accidentally shot by his older brother at their home on a farm in North Canterbury about 1.30 p.m. yesterday. He was
CoUn Neil Mclntosh, aged 10, the son of Mr and Mrs N. E. E. Mclntosh, of Rotherham.
Duncan John Mclntosh, aged 16, was cleaning a .22 rifle on the veranda of his home after doing some shooting. He removed the magaaine from the rifle and his young brother had come out of a door when he was struck in the small of the back by a bullet when the rifle accidentally discharged. The bullet went through the boy’s body.
The boy was treated by Mr R. J. Noonan, of the St John Ambulance Brigade, and Dr W. J. Dickel, of Culverden. He was being taken to the Christchurch Hospital by ambulance when he died just before the ambulance reached Waikari.
