C.U.B. LIFTS PROFIT
Interim Div. Steady (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. 2. The group profit of Carlton and United Breweries, Ltd, the biggest brewing group in Australia, rose substantially in the December half-year—helped by an industrial dispute. The directors said that improved results for the period were considerably assisted by added sales during the dispute which closed Sydney breweries late in 1967. Group sales showed a satisfactory increase in the six months on the year earlier period. Steady Dividend
Interim dividend on all shares is steady at 5 per cent, payable on March 1. This is a line with the recent pattern of interim 5 and final 8 per cent distributions. The directors added that parent company sales and profits showed a satisfactory increase when compared with the previous corresponding period. The interim dividend will be paid to shareholders registered on February 19.
