Tom Skillen, talking about his trade as a cobbler in a 8.8. C. broadcast, said of his customers: “I prefer women customers but they do need careful handling. If you say to a woman: ‘What a beautiful pair of shoes,’ she wants to tell you where she bought them and join in your praise. But if you just ask where she bought them she always raps out: ‘What’s wrong with them'?’’
