The exemptions of $20,000 In any period of 12 months in respect of controls over money raised or borrowed overseas by New Zealand companies and in New Zealand by overseas domicilised interests, have been discontinued. All such transactions would now require the prior consent of the Minister of Finance and applications would have tc be sent to the Treasury. The Minister of Finance .'Mr Muldoon) said that until now the existence of the exemptions had enabled the entry, without prior approval, into various sectors of the economy of overseas investments which had not always been in New Zealand’s interests.
