r pHE first shipment of Mitsubishi Colt 1100 fastback saloons is expected to arrive at Auckland in a few days. At first the cars will be imported in limited numbers fully-assembled, and will be distributed by Motor Lines, Ltd, of Palmerston North.
i- The Colt has been com- * pletely designed in Japan, e and is a five-seater with a k large boot. Standard equips ment includes a push-button e radio, heater, tinted glass, a >, cigarette lighter, whitewall tyres, arm-rests, reversing
lights and child-proof doorlocks. The car has two doors, and the individual reclining front seats tip forward to give access to the rear seats. A locking device ensures that the front seats do not tip up in a sudden stop. The over-square, fourcylinder in-line engine develops 58 b.p.h. at 6000 r.p.m., and is fitted with a twinchoke Stromberg carburettor. The four-speed gearbox has synchromesh on all forward ratios, and is controlled by a floor-mounted lever.
