The round of summer and autumn shows will begin tomorrow at Duvauchelle when the Peninsula Horse Show and Pastoral Association holds its 54th show. It is expected that the entries this year will exceed 1200, which is a good average for this fixture. Entries of horses are down slightly, but on the other hand there are record entries In the sheep section. In most years the show has had the support of pony dubs including the show in treks to the peninsula. This has increased horse entries by anything up to 200 on what can be

expected from normal competitors in the Canterbury district. Farmers’ Difficulties This year because of the difficulties that local farmers have in trucking stock, the cattle classes have been eliminated. It has been decided, however, to retain the calf club classes for the benefit of local calf club members and there has been good support for these classes. There are about 1000 entries for the classes that closed earlier in the month, and with those that close on show day—flowers, fruit and vegetables—the total is expected to increase to more than 1200.
